Working with LCMS World Relief Partners
Nuba
Mountain: Farming Tools.
Partners:
LCMS World Relief and Nuba Mountain Lutheran Church.
GOAL: In this isolated community, buildings are made of hand-carried
stone and farms are tilled with sticks. The only metal available to
the community is from exploded bombs. People race to the bomb site to
salvage metal pieces which a local blacksmith fashions into tools. Simple
hoes, machetes and shovels will greatly increase food production. Farmers
will provide stones for building materials and receive tools in exchange.
OBJECTIVE:
Distribute simple tools to help increase food production.
Approved Project Support: $14,000 through 2003.
Hunger Projects : Burkina
Faso, Ethiopia, Kenya,
Liberia, Mali, Niger,
Senegal, Tanzania,
Togo and Uganda.
