ZimbabweMaterial Aid Support to people affected by HIV/AIDS
Partners: LWR and Lutheran World Federation/Lutheran Development Service (LWF/LDS)
HIV/AIDS is running rampant in Zimbabwe. An estimated 25 percent of the total population is infected and some 800,000 children have already been orphaned by the disease. In the areas where LWRs partner, LWF/LDS, operates, some 60 percent of the orphaned children are cared for by grandparents, who are often too weak to provide such basic needs as food, clothing, and schooling requirements. An estimated 10 percent of the children in these areas live in child-headed households.
GOAL: To alleviate human suffering by providing HIV/AIDS orphaned children and infected men, women, and children with important material aid commodities.
ACTIONS: With the help of LWR material aid, LWF/LDS will assist beneficiaries in the following rural areas of Zimbabwe:
