Bulletin Announcement

Lutheran World Relief, ELCA World Hunger Program and LCMS World Relief introduce: Stand With Africa.

Stand With Africa is a campaign to support African churches and communities as they withstand HIV/Aids, banish hunger and build peace. Join Lutheran World Relief, ELCA World Hunger Program and LCMS World Relief in this campaign of hope.

For most Americans, Africa is the very image of a continent in crisisnations facing overwhelming hardships; conflict claiming thousands of lives; disasters that drive millions from their homes; the majority of the world's HIV/AIDS cases. The list goes on.

Yet for many Africansand many who know themAfrica is also a place of extraordinary vitality, dignity and courage. Nowhere does the human spirit shine more brightly, nowhere do people work harder together and nowhere are more people proclaiming and hearing the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Do weas Christians, here in Americarespond to the image, or to the reality? And if so, how?

Stand With Africa works with churches and communities to overcome HIV/AIDS, produce enough food to eat and sell, and build peace at the grassroots. A three-year campaign of Lutheran World Relief, ELCA World Hunger Program and LCMS World Relief, the campaign is designed to energize U.S. Lutherans by offering opportunities for prayer, education, cultural exchange, advocacy and financial support. During Lent 2001 and this Easter season, join Lutheran World Relief, ELCA World Hunger Program and LCMS World Relief to Stand With Africa.

Please watch for ways you can be involved in the campaign.
