Dear friends,

I am a full-time practicing dentist in Atlanta, Georgia and I need your assistance. I am also the dental director of Kenya Medical Outreach, Inc., a registered charity that makes an annual mission trip to remote regions of Kenya to treat the needy people of Kenya. We have received an offer from a dentist from Kosoavo who lives in Ottowa, Canada to go with us on our next mission which is from May 23 to June 8, 2003. This dentist is not licensed in Canada yet so has no significant income. His heart is with missions but his wallet is not, as you can see. Also, two travel team members, Shannon Simpson, a dental assistant and Pam Smith, a registered nurse on the trip are in need of travel assistance. Pam went with us last year is was a great asset in treating over 1500 patients with a myriad of medical problems.

I will be leading the 2003 mission to Olmekenyu and Morijo to treat the Masai and Kipsigi tribes. There are a total of 10 on the trip including a medical physician, Dr. Christina Williams, two dental assistants, Shannon Simpson and Sheila Williams, a nurse, Pam Smith, R.N., a pastor, Brad Williams, three helpers from other professions and hopefully two dentists. Our first year in Kenya I was the only dentist and extracted 550 teeth in a week. It was hard work and very taxing as you can imagine. Last year we had two dentists and extracted 750 teeth. That was much better for the dentists' taxed wrists. You can see why I am seeking a partner to go with us, self preservation! :) The nurse will be overwhelmed as well as the physician as they see approximately 1000 patients in the week of clinics. There is space for additional members if you are interested.

My request is that a group of like-minded nurses, medical and dental team members,l laboratory owners and technicians, and medical supply companies in Canada take on the mission of helping Dr.Gzim Bytyqi (-photo-), our dental assistant Shannon Simpson and our nurse, Pam Smith, R.N. raise the needed funds to go on this trip with us.They are in need of local support to make the trip. Our cost of the trip to Kenya, the lodging and airfare is $2950 US for each person. Is there a study club, nursing society or group practice who will take on this mission to help these three mission members? Please email Dr. Bytyqi , Pam and Shannon as well as myself to let them know of your best wishes and support for their activities.

We are also open to donated supplies for the trip. We will do mostly extractions and some fillings in the dental arena. Anesthetic, forceps, syringes, elevators, gloves are needed. Antibiotics and medications of other sorts are mostly needed in the physicians and nursing area.

I pray for your participation and the success of Gzim, Pam and Shannon getting the needed support to go. We as medical care specialists have a unique position in society and this act of mercy is a small way we can give back to our world society. If a mere 87 nurses, physcians and dentists give just $100 US each, Dr. Bytyqi, Ms. Smith, and Ms. Simpson will be able to do this African mission trip with us. Please join his group, rally your troops, do an extra filling today for the people of Kenya. Its a small thing but it pays huge dividends according to our Heavenly Father.

May your work be blessed,
Bill Williams, DMD, FAGD
